Apply for Summer Internships in Maine Government
Applications are open for the Maine Government Summer Internship Program for summer 2021. Positions will be available in town and city governments and in agencies of the Maine state government. Full time, paid internships will run June 1 through August 20, for a total of 12 weeks.
Job areas include education, engineering, social media, conservation, law, data analysis, finance, and everything in between. All majors may apply.
To be eligible for the program, students must be completing at least their second year of college and be either a Maine resident or attending a college or university in Maine. Graduating seniors and graduate students are eligible. The application deadline is February 28, 2021.
Most internships are based in the Augusta area. A select number of internships will be available in other locations which in the past have included Bridgton, Caribou, Gray, Saco, Union, Sanford, Bethel, Presque Isle, Portland, Bangor, Rockland, and others. Some internships may be remote.
The internship program comprises approximately 50 different internships. Students apply to the program at the same time as the supervisors request interns. Our selection committee then evaluates students based on skills and interests to fill the available positions. Each internship has specific qualifications and students are selected based on skills identified on their applications. Looking at reports from previous years, listed on our website, is a good indicator of possible available internships.
