Jonathan Rubin Presents at IFW Committee

AUGUSTA, Maine – Jonathan Rubin presents at the IFW Legislative Committee on January 17th, 1 p.m., on the “Gasoline Taxes from ATVs, Snowmobiles and Recreational Watercraft in Maine” report. The report was authored by Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center’s Jonathan Rubin, Kathryn Grond, and Connor Evans-Ralston.

The report updates three earlier reports looking at gasoline use and gasoline taxes paid by users of ATVs, snowmobiles, and gasoline-powered watercraft in Maine in 2001 following the passage of LD 977. It was advised and financially supported by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife (DIF&W), the Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry (DACF), and the Maine Department of Transportation. LD 977 directs the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to study the distribution of gasoline tax revenue for nonhighway recreational vehicle programs as described in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 36, section 2903-D.
