Gianna DeJoy

Gianna is PhD candidate in Anthropology and Environmental Policy in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Maine, where her dissertation research is focused on shifting landscapes of maternity care access in Maine and Maritime Canada. She is also a Canadian-American Center Fellow, a research assistant with the NOAA/Sea Grant marine debris reduction challenge, and faculty at University of Maine at Presque Isle. Gianna holds a Master’s of Science in Social Work with a focus on health, mental health, and disability policy practice from Columbia University School of Social Work and a BA in Sociology with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Richmond, summa cum laude. She worked in politics and state government before coming to UMaine.
