Sandra De-Urioste Stone
Sandra De-Urioste Stone is captivated by the cultural and natural diversity of the world and is committed to promoting sustainable tourism planning and development. She greatly enjoys working with indigenous groups and understanding how people interact, benefit and care for the environment. Before joining the University of Maine, she was department Chair, Professor and Researcher at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala on sustainable tourism, global changes, collaborative management; and Ecotourism Program Manager for a conservation non-profit organization in Guatemala working with indigenous/rural communities. Professor De-Urioste Stone is a Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center Faculty Fellow for 2016-17.
