Justin Wolff

Justin Wolff is an Associate Professor of Art History in the Department of Art and Director of the University of Maine Humanities Initiative. Justin came to UMaine in 2008 and teaches courses on modern, contemporary, and American art, as well as art theory and criticism. His research focuses on nineteenth- and twentieth-century American art. As Director of the UMaine Humanities Initiative (umaine.edu/umhi) Justin works to promote collaborations between UMaine humanities faculty and various organizations and individuals throughout the state. He is an enthusiastic advocate for the “public humanities” and believes that the academic research taking place at UMaine is an invaluable resource for all Mainers and can help us all develop a deeper understanding of the state’s cultural heritage and civic life.
