Gayle Zydlewski
Dr. Gayle Barbin Zydlewski is an Associate Professor in the School of Marine Sciences at the University of Maine. She is the project leader of the Fish Assessment Study Team of the Maine Tidal Power Initiative and Maine’s Sustainability Solutions Initiative. Her research interests and experiences are in the area of fish ecology, emphasizing the impacts of environmental conditions on fish behavior and resultant effects on populations. She focuses on assessing the effects and impacts of human induced changes to fish habitat, e.g., dam removal and deployment of alternative energy solutions in the marine environment, on fish behavior and population dynamics. Results from her research are used by natural resource managers to make decisions associated with environmental impacts on natural (or artificially-enhanced) populations of fishes.
