Ann Acheson

Research Associate

Ann Acheson photoAnn Acheson has been at the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center since 1999. She is editor of Maine Policy Review and a research associate, and is a faculty associate in the Anthropology Department, where she teaches occasional courses and serves as an Honors student advisor. As editor, Acheson manages all aspects of journal content and production, including article solicitation and review, fund-raising, and communication with reviewers, authors, copy-editor, designer, printer, and MCSC staff. Acheson also initiates and evaluates programs addressing health, mental health, substance abuse, and social services issues. Her recent work has focused on poverty in Maine, a topic on which she has published several reports and articles since 2003. Prior to coming to the MCSC, Acheson worked for 15 years in mental health inpatient and outpatient facilities as a research associate and quality assurance director, with managerial responsibilities in program evaluation and accreditation compliance.
