Blackstone to give author talk on latest book
Dr. Amy Blackstone, Professor at the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center and Department of Sociology at the University of Maine, will be delivering an author talk on her new book Childfree By Choice: The Movement Redefining Families and Creating a New Age of Independence at the Bangor Public Library. The event will be held on Friday, December 12, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
Blackstone is the co-creator of the blog “we’re {not} having a baby!,” and a nationally recognized expert on the childfree choice. Her book is a definitive investigation into the history and current growing movement of adults choosing to forgo parenthood: what it means for our society, economy, environment, perceived gender roles and legacies, and how understanding and supporting all types of families can lead to positive outcomes for parents, non-parents and children alike.
Books will be available for purchase at the event.
