2018 Public Affairs Scholars Present Their Research

The 2017-18 Margaret Chase Smith Public Affairs Scholarship recipients, Katie Manzo and Julianna Ferguson, gave poster presentations of their research this week at the University of Maine Student Symposium held at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. A graduating senior in the School of Computing and Information Science, Manzo’s research focused on developing a website platform for Connecting to Begin a Community Energy Project using her skills as a computer scientist to develop mechanisms for communities to share information in order to develop community-based energy projects. Ferguson’s senior research in the Sociology Department explored The Relationship Between Juvenile Alcohol Abuse, Depression, and Violence in order to provide insight for developing preventative and treatment services.
