Rep. Erin Herbig will visit UMaine Feb. 21

On Wednesday, February 21, the Policy Center welcomes Rep. Erin Herbig as a Distinguished Maine Policy Fellow. House Majority Leader Erin Herbig is currently serving her fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives. She represents House District 97 which includes Belfast, Northport and Waldo. Herbig guides the 77-member House Democratic caucus through the legislative session and serves as a leading voice in policy negotiations.

Rep. Herbig was first elected in 2010 and served for four years as the House Chair of the Legislature’s Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development Committee. She has fought consistently for long lasting investments in Maine’s rural community and workers statewide. She currently serves as Chair of the Aging Caucus and the Legislative Council’s State House Facilities Committee.

Distinguished Maine Policy Fellows are prominent Maine individuals with past or current careers as policy makers in the state. The Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center brings these individuals to campus for a day to teach an undergraduate class, engage faculty about research and public policy, and meet with UMaine administration and graduate students.

Rep. Herbig’s visit is co-sponsored by the School of Forest Resources and the Policy Center.

A reception with Rep. Herbig will be held from 4:00 – 5:00 in the University Club of Fogler Library and is open to the public.
